Email Friend Contact Author (eTradeWire.Org) – New York, NY- The TwitterQueens have hosted the first of what will be a series of Social Media Educational events. This group was formed to support women in business and social media, and its reach has been expanded to include men as well. The founders- Maya Paveza, Lesley Lambert and Diane Guercio –had noted a need for continued support beyond typical Social Media conferences, and planned a community over “tweets”- exchanges of 140 characters or less on twitter. They collaborated on creating a site for the community, which is now international in membership. Women and men from all over the United States, Canada and the UK are part of the TwitterQueens community, and have contributed to the group’s photo album, videos and blog.
New York City was chosen as the location for the TwitterQueens inaugural event, and the group came to town on June 26-28. On Friday, they organized a TweetUp (a meeting for people using social media, particularly twitter) that was open to the public at Latitude in Manhattan. On June 27, the group went to the CBS Early Morning Show where they met some of the cast, and following the show TwitterQueen Maya Paveza was interviewed on CBS.com. The event itself began afterward at the Grand Hyatt. This Social Media boot camp was set up in informal sessions led by members including Rebecca Corliss of HubSpot, Robin Greenbaum from Cobroke Nation, Morriss Partee of EverythingCU.com, and Jennifer Shaheen from the Technology Therapy Group. The event began with a website make-over for Deborah Madey’s Peninsula Real Estate by Jason Turcotte of Turcotte Data and Designs and the day ended with a presentation by Bill Lublin, founder of the Social Media Marketing Institute.
