(eTradeWire.Org) – Mark Davies, managing director of e-conomic in the UK, commented: “The new pricing structure is simpler, more transparent and even more competitive. Existing and new customers will get more for less, and e-conomic remains free for accountants and bookkeepers.

“e-conomic has grown at a phenomenal rate across Europe since it was launched eight years ago and 2009 looks set to be another year of good growth. We have set ourselves the ambitious target of reaching 100,000 companies using e-conomic by the end of 2011. In order to achieve this, we must keep ahead of the game ensuring that not only is e-conomic aggressively priced but also our product offers better and deeper functionality than our competitors – no other online accounting system offers the same amount of basic functionality plus the level of expandability we provide through add-on modules.”

The full price list is detailed below. A summary of the key changes are as follows:
 The subscription fee for both the Small and Standard levels have reduced to £12.99 and £24.99 respectively (previously £15.99 and £27.00)
 The number of transactions allowed for small companies has increased four-fold. Now small companies can have up to 4,000 transactions per annum before moving up to a Standard subscription.
 The cost of an additional user has been reduced from £9.00 to £6.99 and this is consistent across all modules. Previously there were additional charges for users having access to the Stock and Project Accounting modules, now there is just one charge per user no matter how many modules they have access to. The first user for each company remains free.
 Provision of e-conomic remains free for users within accounting or bookkeeping practices.

Mark Davies concluded: “These are exciting times to be a SaaS player; the market is evolving quickly. We believe our approach of a simple fee per company and free use for accountants and bookkeepers continues to be the most compelling model available today.”

NOTES TO EDITORS

Sample price comparisons with Sage

These examples compare the Sage products that would typically be chosen as a starting point by most small or medium sized businesses. In reality, e-conomic provides additional functionality that can only be found in even more expensive Sage products, which is why companies can start small and grow with e-conomic rather than having to switch software at a later date.

The cost of SageCover Extra has been included in order to provide a like-for-like comparison with the service provided by e-conomic which includes support and upgrades as standard. All figures exclude VAT.

1. Small company example

For a small company with one user, the monthly subscription to e-conomic has been reduced by 4% to only £12.99 per month (£155.88 per annum).

The cost of Sage 50 Accounts 2009 with one user, including 12 months SageCover Extra (for support and upgrades) is £1,015.00. Therefore e-conomic gives an 85% saving in year 1.

The price without SageCover is £550.00, implying that SageCover Extra costs around £450.00. So e-conomic gives an ongoing saving in the 2nd and subsequent years of around 72%.

2. Medium-sized company examples

a) For a medium-sized company with two users, the monthly subscription to e-conomic has been reduced by 11% to just £31.98 per month (£383.76 per annum).

The cost of Sage 50 Accounts 2009 with two users and SageCover Extra is £1,405.00. e-conomic gives a saving of 73% in year 1. SageCover Extra costs around £600, so e-conomic gives an ongoing saving of 36%.

b) For a company requiring Stock Management and two users, the monthly subscription to e-conomic has been reduced by 24% to only £40.97 per month (£491.64 per annum).

The cost of Sage 50 Accounts Plus 2009 with two users and SageCover Extra is £1,865.00. e-conomic gives a saving of 74% in year 1. SageCover Extra costs around £800, so e-conomic gives an ongoing saving of 39%.
